The fund's exceptional performance record through the bull and bear phases of the market explains why it is the biggest one around

This is the largest fund in the tax-saving category by far. It is more than twice the size of the next biggest equity linked savings scheme (ELSS). Its number one position is well backed by the strong performance it has put up year after year through the ups and downs of the market. It is suitable for investors looking to build wealth in the long-run and also save tax under Section 80C. But remember, it will lock your money in for three years from the date of investment. Performance The fund has been a big wealth creator for its investors, compounding their money at a CAGR of over 21 per cent (Direct plan) since the start of 2013. Dissect those numbers and you find that this performance isn't a result of just one or two blockbuster years, but built upon top quartile returns delivered year after year in bull as well bear markets. It is not that the fund hasn't had its share of disappointments. The fund had a tough time negotiating the range-bound markets of 2016. This year again, it is finding it difficult to keep up with an average peer in a rally fue
