I want to begin investing in mutual funds via SIPs. Please suggest some funds.

You haven't mentioned the timeframe of your investment. Are you going to invest for a few months or for a few years? Since we have no idea of your investment horizon and goal, we will give you a broad guideline regarding mutual fund investments.
Ordinarily, a new investor should begin with relatively stable vehicles like balanced funds. Choose 1 or 2 well-performing balanced funds and invest in them systematically. Don't get influenced by the market's gyrations, stick to your investment plan through all times, especially through the lean times. Some good balanced funds to choose from are UTI Balanced, DSP BlackRock Balanced, Tata Balanced or Birla Sun Life 95.
