Long-term Earnings

Long-term systematic investments in well-performing mutual funds can give you handsome returns…

I have surrendered my LIC Market Plus and LIC Money Plus policies after suffering heavy losses in them. I want to now invest in mutual funds with a time horizon of 10 years. Which fund company should I invest in?

As far as mutual funds go, the company doesn’t matter. The fund’s performance is important. We would suggest that you consult a financial advisor and begin investing in 3-4 good funds. If you invest regularly in them, you will earn good long-term returns. For a period of 10 years, build a portfolio of 3-4 multi-cap funds as well as around 8-10 per cent exposure to fixed income.
The funds that we would suggest are HDFC Equity, DSP BlackRock Balanced, Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity, and UTI Equity. Spread your investments over these funds and monitor your investments on a yearly basis.
