Go for a Balanced Fund

Since this is your first investment in mutual funds, go for balanced funds as they give you exposure to both equity and debt

I am 37 years old and have no exposure to mutual funds. I have a monthly saving of close to Rs 2,000-3,000. These are my suggested SIPs: HDFC Equity / HDFC Top 200 / DSPBR Top 100. Your view?

Since it appears to be your very first investment, we suggest you stick to a balanced fund that has an exposure to equity and debt. DSPBR Balanced, HDFC Prudence and FT India Balanced are three good options. You can divide your savings between any two of them.
