Assuming a return of 10 per cent on your investments, you can comfortably accumulate a corpus of around Rs 15 lakh in 10 years by investing Rs 7,500 per month. Since your investment tenure will be long, regularly invest primarily in quality diversified equity funds and keep up to 20 per cent of your investments in debt funds. Choose up to three large-cap funds such as HDFC Top 200, DSPBR Top 100 Equity, BSL Frontline Equity, Magnum Contra and Fidelity Equity as the core of your portfolio.
A small component of debt will add the necessary stability to your portfolio and also help in regular rebalancing. Choose from Fortis Flexi Debt or Canara Robeco Income.
