SBI Focused Equity Fund is a market-cap agnostic fund that prefers quality stocks and is flexible in its portfolio. The fund holds less than 30 stocks, which makes it more volatile than other flexi-cap funds. However, its bottom-up stock-picking approach has paid off over the past decade. In recent years, the fund has begun allocating a small portion of its portfolio to foreign equities, but only if they provide better risk-return potential than Indian stocks. This move is not aimed at diversification purposes. SBI Focused Equity Fund has delivered -1.76 and 2.91 per cent returns over the last six and 12 months, respectively, making it land among the bottom of the pile. The fund has had a bad patch over the past year, with returns falling in the lower quartile
