Since crypto does not have any underlying asset, is it safe and worth investing in? Specifically when there is a global recession or a market crash?
- Ashish Agarwal
The value of crypto will depend on the eye of the beholder. If the number of people who value it goes up, crypto will go up. Assuming we have 10 million people who invest $100 billion in crypto. A year from now, if more people invest, more money will come, making the cryptos pricey.
But at the same time, now different cryptos are being created. So no longer do we have just one or two of its kind. Also, someday people will realise that the underlying is nothing, and it will come to an end.
I think individual investors should not get excited about cryptos. They should limit their investment in them to a tiny portion of the portfolio, that too, for fun. It should be a very insignificant portion of the portfolio and nothing beyond that.
