UTI Launches Variable Investment Scheme

UTI has launched an Index Linked Plan under its Variable Investment Scheme, a new hybrid scheme. The distinct feature of this scheme is the direct linkage of its equity part with Sensex. Albeit, equity part will be passively managed, still the total equity exposure would be dynamically managed according to the valuation of the market. The debt allocation would be high on credit quality and the investment would only be in AAA, AA & similar rated papers and government securities.

It is initially open for subscription from November 7, 2002 to November 22, 2002. Minimum Initial investment is Rs 5000 and all additional investments can be made in denomination of Rs 1000. The fund would open for ongoing sale and repurchase from December 2, 2002. Entry into the fund on an ongoing basis will be at a price not more than 102% of the NAV, while the fund would not charge any exit load. It also offers a dividend reinvestment option, but in case the value of investment is below Rs.20,000, dividend will be compulsorily reinvested.
