We are a working couple and both of us are covered under health insurance covers provided by our employers. Okay, let us assume that you will be covered by your respective employers until your retirement. That means you don't have to buy another health cover until your retirement. But you need a health cover after retirement. And it will be a difficult and costly affair to buy a health cover at that age, especially if you develop some health issues. You may buy a Super Top Up policy. These policies offer an increase of your existing insurance cover at a lower premium. Some companies offer super Top Up plans which work as an add-on cover till retirement and then get converted into a full-fledged basic health insurance policy. The conversion will be done free.
