Taxation on debt funds bought before 2015

Short-term capital gains on debt mutual funds held for less than three years will be added to the income and taxed as per the income tax slab applicable to you

After the last budget, the time period for consideration of long-term capital gains tax benefits on debt funds has been changed to three years. How the tax calculation is done for debt funds bought before March 2015?

The changes in taxation on debt funds is applicable to even investments made earlier. It is applicable on all redemptions made after 10 July, 2014. Short-term capital gains on debt mutual funds held for less than three years will be added to your income and taxed as per the income tax slab applicable to you. Investments in debt schemes held over three years qualify for long-term capital gains tax of 20 per cent with indexation benefit.
