I will be investing ₹30,000 each month for the next 15 years. I want a diversified portfolio. Some funds I have shortlisted are Birla Sun Life Top 100, SBI Bluechip and UTI Opportunities from the large- and mid-cap category. From the mid- and small-cap category, I have shortlisted Mirae Asset Emerging Bluechip, SBI Magnum Midcap and HDFC Midcap Opportunities. Which of these funds should I invest in and in what proportion? I am already investing in Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity, IDFC Premier Equity, Quantum Long Term Equity and Motilal Oswal Most Shares NASDAQ.

It's good to see that you've chosen funds after much deliberation, with a clear thought process. It will be advantageous to invest regularly in equities for the long run, without getting anxious by the market volatility. You have already built a good portfolio of funds that you're currently investing in. We would suggest that you don't need to do anything more. At the most, you can add HDFC Midcap Opportunities to your portfolio. This will mean that you have 5 funds in your portfolio and you should just spread the incremental ₹30,000 equally amongst them. These funds will give you a good amount of diversification without complicating your investments. So, keep it as simple as you can.
