I am 33 and have just started monthly SIPs of Rs 2,000 in IDFC Premier Equity and Rs 1,000 each in HDFC Equity, Franklin India Bluechip, HDFC Top 200 and DSPBR Top 100. I realise that my portfolio is very aggressive and in line with the core and satellite approach. I plan to stop the SIP in IDFC Premier Equity after two years and hold it and carry on investing in the other funds for the next ten years. Is this a right strategy? If I have to select one fund between mid- and small-cap and multi-cap for a long-term SIP, which one should be preferred?

Snapshot of your current portfolio:
* 95% equity exposure
* Large-cap blend of value and growth orientation
* Top sectors: Financial, Energy, Technology (44.5%)
* Top stocks: ICICI Bank, SBI, Infosys, RIL, Bharti Airtel (20%)
You do not have an aggressive portfolio and are investing systematically in good funds. Considering the fact that you have a 10-year time frame and age on your side, there is no harm in holding on to the mid- and small-cap fund.
