Make Stability a Priority

For a period of around 6 years, go for stability by investing in large-cap tilted balanced funds…

I'm 52-years old. I have been investing Rs 1,000 a month for the last 4 years in Reliance Vision and another Rs 1,000 in Reliance Growth, for the last 1 year. I want to know if I should continue with these investments. I’m looking at a timeframe of another 6 years.

Yours is an accumulative investment, for which 6 years is not a long enough time period. For someone who is 52, you should take a little more moderate approach. We would suggest you to invest in balanced funds. Since you’ve to accumulate for the next 6 years, stability should be your priority. You can invest in large-cap tilted balanced funds like Canara Robeco Balance, Tata Balanced or UTI Balanced.

Furthermore, the two funds you’ve invested in haven’t been able to sustain their performance. Their performance has been moderate in the past 3-4 years. This is also why you should stop investing in them.
