Focus on Plan

Investing without an aim is like treasure hunt without a map

I am investing Rs 2,000 in DSPBR Top 100, Rs 1,500 in HDFC Top 200, Rs 1,500 in Sundaram Select Midcap and Rs 1,000 in Canara Robeco Income. What is your view on these investments for the long term horizon?

You have made a good choice of funds that are rated high and have a performance track record to go back to. The portfolio comprises 70 per cent equity exposure with 116 stocks in it. However, we are unable to understand the presence of an income fund in your portfolio, which otherwise is aggressive with funds that have a mid-cap exposure. We would suggest you have a clear investment goal for which you are saving and making these investments. That way, when tracking your fund holdings, you will be able to ascertain its performance and where it is headed. This way, you can make necessary course correction to your investments and exit funds if needed to invest in funds that will help you achieve your goal.
