After registering a high in October, the Assets Under Management (AUM) of the mutual fund industry continued their upward trend, growing 5.92 per cent in November.
According to data provided by the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI), the total AUM of the industry stood at Rs 805,684.48 crore, which was a difference of Rs 45,038.72 crore from that in October.
But if one compares total assets of the industry in November, 2008 to those of November, 2009, one finds that they have doubled. Total assets in November, 2008 were Rs 401,181.65 crore, a difference of 100.83 per cent.
HDFC Mutual Fund topped the list as the biggest gainer in November in terms of assets (absolute) collected of Rs 9,083.91 crore from the previous month - it grew itself to Rs 102,399.95 crore, and thereby stayed in the second ranking overall.
Reliance was pushed back to the third position on its November collections. Its assets in November stood at Rs 122,252.43 crore, which was a difference of 4.68 per cent from October. However, it remained the No. 1 fund company.
In terms of percentage change, it was Axis Mutual Fund which registered the highest numbers, gaining 81.97 per cent in November over October collections.
In terms of percentage, Baroda Pioneer Mutual Fund registered the greatest fall in its assets for the month. It fell by 11.38 per cent, or Rs 417.13 crore.
But if one compares its present assets with those it had in November, 2008, then Baroda Pioneer MF has grown a whopping 8,647.72 per cent. Its assets were a meagre Rs 37.14 crore then. Taurus MF too has registered a growth of over 800 per cent since then.
In terms of percentage it was ING MF, which has lost the most since November last year. Its assets have fallen 49.56 per cent.
