Booking Infra Fund Losses

A lump sum investment in an infra fund is swimming in losses

I had invested Rs 2 lakh in an infrastructure fund two years ago. Now, I am incurring a 30 per cent loss. What should I do?

You should remain invested for some more time. You had invested the money in October, 2007 and if you wait for some time, then you might get over the losses.

However, whenever you invest in equity, then a minimum of 3-5 years period should be kept in the perspective. And to steer clear of such losses, one must not invest a huge amount in one go. If you had invested the money after distributing the entire amount into small parts, then you might not have incurred losses.
