Week 30: Should you invest in index funds?
Warren Buffett famously advised his wife to just put her money into an index fund tracking the S&P 500 after his death. Index funds and Index ETFs simply follow an index rather than relying on a fund manager to pick stocks. However in India, investing in any of the 10 largest actively managed equity funds would have given you 1.5 times the return of the Nifty over the last five or even ten years.
