Could you please tell me the current name of UTI Mastergain? I hold 500 units of this fund since the beginning. What do you think about this fund?

UTI Mastergain was renamed as UTI Equity Fund in July 2005. The fund was launched in May 1992 and is at present one of the oldest diversified equity funds available. It was a close-ended fund to start with and was converted to an open-ended fund in 1997. It currently manages assets more than Rs 1,500 crore.
You being one of the initial subscribers to the fund, would have earned annualised returns of about 12.08 per cent till now. But vis-à-vis other diversified equity funds, UTI Equity Fund has been a laggard. It has a track record of consistently under-performing the category and is rated two-star by Value Research. The fund spreads its investments across large- and mid-caps, but the large-cap stocks always dominate the portfolio. You can consider exiting this fund as you can easily find better options with the same investment style.
