Dhirendra Kumar suggests an investing framework

Where should my father invest Rs 50 lakh to generate wealth?

My father had invested about Rs 50 lakh in capital gain bonds after selling his land a few years back. They are now nearing maturity. Where should he invest the proceeds? He is not dependent on this money for generating regular income.

While this money is for the long term, I think you should be guided entirely by your father's experience. If he has never invested in equity, you should invest the money into equity savings funds or conservative hybrid funds. If he has experienced equity, then maybe go for aggressive hybrid funds. However, never invest dominantly into an equity fund if you don't have equity investing experience. That's because as you get older, your reaction to the big moves in the market value of your investment has an impact on your behaviour, and that could hurt.
