Bajaj Auto
Bajaj Auto was founded in 1945. It initially imported two- and three-wheelers. In 1959, it started manufacturing its own scooters. By the 1980s, it had become an undisputed leader in the Indian market in the scooter segment. The company exited the scooter segment in the 90s and started focusing on motorcycles.

Hero Motocorp
Hero Motocorp was founded in 1984 as a joint venture between Hero Cycles of India and Honda of Japan. In 2010, the Hero Group bought out Honda in the joint venture. Subsequently, in August 2011, the company was renamed as Hero MotoCorp. Hero Moto scores over Bajaj Auto across most parameters given below except the margins.

Over the years, under Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto has grown to become the world's third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer and the largest three-wheeler manufacturer. It is also India's biggest motorcycle exporter. In just 17 years of its incorporation, Hero MotoCorp has become the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of the number of units sold.
