Can I buy direct plan MFs through a demat account?

Investment in mutual funds through demat account is not direct plans

I have a demat account with my bank and I use their trading portal to buy mutual funds. I have chosen the Regular plans for my current investments. Could I have chosen the Direct plans?

At present, it is not possible to buy direct plans using a demat account. You can purchase direct plans online from the websites of fund houses or by submitting your application form at their investor service centres.
