10.25 per cent fall in NAV

The Net Asset Value of Axis Long Term Equity Fund (dividend option) has fallen because it has declared a dividend

I am investing in Axis Long Term Equity Fund (dividend option) through a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) since 15/12/2014. Since then the Net Asset Value (NAV) of the scheme has been in ₹21-23 range. Suddenly today (27/01/16), the NAV has fallen to ₹18.97 (a fall of 10.25%). The NAV of the growth option has risen by 0.39%. How is that possible?
Shall I stop SIP in dividend option and start in growth option?
