I have been investing in HDFC Equity Fund via SIP of ₹8,000 since 2008. The fund has been underperforming for quite some time. Can you please tell me whether I should continue my SIP or stop it. Also, if I exit, what should I do with the corpus I have already accumulated with this fund.

The fund has struggled in the last one year. It has been a relative underperformer in the large and mid-cap category. However, its long-term performance is still inspiring. The fund is invested in a set of stocks that is very different from other funds. That means the fund has taken a stand, and it has generally been right on key occasions in the past 20 years. So, hold on to this fund. The fund manager who has been managing the fund for a long period tend to take contrarian view on the broad market, and he has been proven repeatedly right in the past.
