Why is SBI Small & Midcap Fund not rated?

The scheme was converted from a large cap scheme to a small and mid cap scheme two years ago

SBI Small & Midcap Fund has been around for more than five years. Why is it not rated?
- R Siva Prasad

SBI Small & Midcap Fund was originally called Daiwa Industrial Leaders Fund. The name and mandate of the scheme was changed in 2013 when SBI Mutual Fund acquired schemes of Daiwa Mutual Fund. Thus Daiwa Industrial Leaders Fund, a large cap scheme, was turned into a small and mid cap scheme and renamed as SBI Small and Midcap Fund. Sine the scheme was converted from a large cap scheme to a small and mid cap scheme two years ago, we treat it as a two-year-old small & midcap scheme. That is why it is not rated. This will start qualifying for rating once it completes three years as a mid & small cap fund.
