Increasing market engagement

Intermediaries are the key and the most important partners for growing our business, says Arvind Sethi of Tata Mutual Fund

Tata Mutual Fund has had yet another change at the top. Arvind Sethi, the MD and CEO, has plans to re-engage with the markets and cash-in on the Tata brand name and value. This effort will be undertaken with strong communication with the distributors to increase the mindshare of well performing funds.

Also planned are several investor education initiatives by tying up with vendors to run classes on financial investments and mutual funds. Next, the AMC has started a 'Simple Finance' quiz where it is engaging with people about finance in a quiz format at the college level in eight cities. Last, the AMC is revamping the popular Professor Simply Simple with 'Simply FQ' education series by which it is consciously trying to reach out to young people in an engaging way.

Sethi feels that the industry ails from the fact that mutual funds have not been sold properly. He has a strong belief that investing in mutual funds is about investing in different asset classes and eventually, wealth creation is a function of being invested for long periods.

Total assets: Rs 17,966 crore, Net Profit: Rs 15.43 crore
