Funds in your portfolio

Select equity funds looking at their past performance and invest for long term

I am currently investing in UTI MNC and UTI Dividend Yield. Should I continue with these investments? I also want to add an international fund to my portfolio. Please suggest some options.

Both funds you invest in have a good track record and you can continue investing in them.

UTI MNC is a thematic fund that invests in multinational companies across sectors. The fund yielded 21.51 per cent annualised returns over the last five years.

UTI Dividend Yield is a large and mid-cap equity fund with a three star rating. The fund yielded 15.19 per cent annualised returns over the last five-year period. The rating of this fund has degraded only in the last two months because of its poor performance. If the rating goes down further, consider switching to another fund.

As far as investing in an international fund is concerned, diversifying across geographies is a good idea. Some funds to choose from are ICICI Prudential US Bluechip, FT India Feeder Franklin US Opportunities or Birla Sun Life International Equity Plan A, which can invest all over the world. The first two funds invest primarily in US-based companies, but these companies do business all over the world.
