Buying a second health policy

A new health policy will elude you from the loyalty benefits of continuing with the existing policy

I am 35-years old and looking for a complete health insurance policy for my wife and self. I am insured under a policy from National Insurance with Rs 3 lakh cover, but want to shift to a family floater plan.

Since you are already covered with National Insurance, you can ask your insurer to include your wife under the same policy and convert it into a family floater, if possible. Continuing with the same policy entitles you to loyalty discounts and no-claim bonuses on each renewal. If your existing policy can cover your wife, you will not lose the loyalty benefits. Also, most policies come with a waiting period. Insurer will admit a claim only after your policy completes the specified waiting period. Buying a new policy means the waiting period of the new policy will start afresh.

However, if you are not satisfied with the existing policy or wish to buy an additional family floater policy, Apollo Munich Easy Health Family floater, Bajaj Allianz Star Package and Royal Sundaram Master Product are few policies matching your needs. These are comprehensive plans that offer a wide protection. You should decide the coverage depending on your needs and medical history. Do not forget to check exclusions and maximum policy renewal age while buying a policy. You may also check other health insurance policies on Insurance section of our website.
