Out of the universe of all traded stocks there are 811 such companies, in which promoters have pledged at least some portion of their shares. The total pledged portion stands at Rs 1,34,454 crore as on FY13. The pledged amount, though high, has been reducing for the past two quarters.

The table shows the total pledged amount in the market in the previous five quarters. But to negate the effect of market changes we have also given the change in pledged amount as a percentage of total market cap.
