Axis Mutual Fund appoints R Sivakumar as the new CIO

Summary: Axis AMC has appointed R Sivakumar as its new CIO, following the exit of Ashish Gupta. Sivakumar, who joined the fund house in 2009, will now lead the investment teams and drive the AMC’s long-term strategy.

On Thursday (March 5, 2026), Axis Asset Management Company (AMC) announced that R Sivakumar will be its new chief investment officer (CIO). He will succeed Ashish Gupta, who headed the investment teams at the fund house since March 2023.

In his new role, effective immediately, Sivakumar will drive Axis AMC’s investment strategy, provide thought leadership on new fund ideas, strengthen its research-led processes, and lead Axis Mutual Fund’s investment teams in alignment with the organisation’s long-term growth aspirations.

Sivakumar, a veteran at the fund house, has been associated with Axis AMC since its inception in 2009. Currently, he serves as the Head of Products and Corporate Strategy and oversees AIF (alternative investment fund) investments at the fund house.

Earlier, Sivakumar spent 14 years as the Head of Fixed Income, driving investment strategies for Axis AMC’s debt offerings.

The current Head of Equity, Shreyash Devalkar, Head of Fixed Income, Devang Shah and Nandik Malik, Head – Equity & Hybrid SIF, will all report to Sivakumar.
