Terminating Mutual Fund Investments

I pay SIP amount of Rs 2,000 every month. If I stop paying this money after one year, can I still hold units and sell them later. Can I stop the SIP without redeeming units? I want to redeem units when market hits a peak. Is it possible? And if I make a one-time investment, how long can I stay invested in the fund? If I invest a sum for three years, then do I need to make a fresh investment after three years to continue with my holdings?

You can stop your SIP anytime you want. Whether you invest through SIP or one-time lump sum payment, you can stay invested as long as you want. Your investment will give you returns as per the performance of the fund. Your investments are a part of the fund assets until you withdraw.
You must understand that it is difficult for an individual investor to recognise a market peak. You will probably know of a peak when it’s gone.
