Redeeming ELSS Investments

Redeem your investments in an ELSS after the lock-in only if you need the money or if the fund has underperformed...

Should I redeem my ELSS funds after the completion of lock-in period of three years?
— Swati

You should redeem the investment in a fund scheme if you need the money, or if the fund is underperforming. Investments in an Equity Linked Savings Scheme have a 3-year lock-in after which you can exit the investment anytime. As your investments have completed the mandatory lock-in, you may exit the same and consider investing in another ELSS to get the benefit of tax savings.
