Short-term Goal

For a short period of 9 months, don’t invest in equity at all. Consider a dynamic bond fund…

I need to accumulate Rs 5 lakh in 9 months for the down payment on a house. I can invest Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 per month. Is it possible to achieve this goal?

For such a short period of time, you should stay completely away from equity. You can consider investing in a dynamic bond fund. If you're lucky to catch an interest rate cut, your investment will translate into slightly superior returns. You probably won't be able to accumulate as much as Rs 5 lakh, but you can get very close.
