This AMC started off in 2011 as a joint venture (51:49) between Union Bank of India and the Dutch KBC Asset Management. For a new entrant, this AMC has plans for a different distribution model in which fund schemes will be solely sold through Union Bank’s branch network. In a little over a year it has launched four schemes to cater to retail investors and two for the bank’s institutional customers. To that extent it has a relatively wide range of products within the equity, debt and hybrid space, which offers ample choice to investors.
The focus currently remains to be on first time retail customers and to that effect the AMC is working hard to train the staff. The AMC hopes to leverage on the KBC Asset Management’s expertise in the global fund markets and ride on the Union Bank of India’s brand value, local knowledge and extensive network, which will represent the perfect blend of ingredients to create a strong proposition to the AMC as well as investors, especially first-time investors beyond the top-10 cities.
