Remove Unnecessary Funds

Your portfolio can do without balanced funds if you already invest in bank fixed deposits

I invest in FDs as well as mutual funds like Quantum Long Term Equity, Franklin India Bluechip, SBI Magnum Emerging Businesses, Birla Sun Life India GenNext and HDFC Prudence, all via the SIP route. I want to know if I have a good diversified portfolio.

You have a good portfolio of diversified funds. However, we don’t see the need for a couple of funds that you hold. Since you already invest in fixed deposits, you don’t need a balanced fund like HDFC Prudence. Along with that, you can do without Birla Sun Life India GenNext, which is a thematic fund. The fund has done well recently, but its long-term performance has been average.
