Assuming Credit Risk

India Infoline has issued non-convertible debentures giving 12.7 per cent annually. Find out more…

India Infoline Finance Limited is issuing 6-years non-convertible debentures giving 12.7 per cent per annum. They have also given the option of going for a scheme where the invested money gets doubled after 6 years if the investor doesn't want the yearly interest. I want to know if this company and offer are reliable.

Yes, this offer from India Infoline is reliable. However, an investor must bear in mind that he would be assuming a credit risk when investing in non-convertible debentures, which means that you would lose your money if the company defaults. But, India Infoline has a reasonably secure credit rating. If you decide to invest, remember that the returns offered are not exceptionally high. Even banks offer 9.5 per cent returns on long-term investments these days.
