Investing for 1 Year

For a 1-year timeframe, investments in an equity fund are undesirable. Choose from these options…

I have Rs 50,000 to invest for a year. Should I invest in a fixed maturity plan (FMP) or ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity or a bond fund? Which is the best option among the three?
- Achyut Pandey

For a one-year investment time frame, investing in a large-cap fund like ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity is undesirable because equity investments are most ideal for a 3-5 year time frame. Of the remaining two options, if you are certain that you will not need the sum for a year, an FMP is a good option for its stability. However, an FMP lacks liquidity, which is offered by a bond fund, which you can shortlist from the Fund Select feature on our website.
