I want to know how one can find out the face value of a fund’s units that were prevailing at the time of the initial public issue.

If you had invested in the fund during its NFO, you can find out the face value by looking at your account statement. After that, the face value becomes history. However, our understanding is that most mutual funds had a face value of Rs 10. It is only of late that liquid funds are coming out with a face value of Rs 1,000. There haven’t been other denominations. So, looking at the level of the NAV and the life of the fund, you can get a reasonably okay guess on the face value.
