I had invested about Rs 10,000 in ICICI Prudential Indo Asia Retail Dividend at the time of its launch in 2007. The fund’s NAV as on date is Rs 10.68. I want to know the basis on which you’ve rated this fund as a 4-star fund.

The Value Research Fund Rating is based entirely on the performance of the fund relative to other funds in the same category. Your experience with this fund is disappointing because you caught the peak in September 2007. However, since then, this fund has done better than most other large-cap funds. It has delivered returns with greater stability, relative to its peers. This is why it has been assigned the 4-star rating, because not too many funds in its category have been able to do as well as this fund.
