Ignore Short-term Underperformance

Don’t redeem funds based on short-term underperformance. Stay invested for the long-term…

I have been investing in 3 funds – HDFC Top 200, Franklin India Prima Plus and ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip Equity – since November 2011. My investments of Rs 36,000 each in ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip and Franklin Prima Plus have become around Rs 39,000. I read somewhere that Prima Plus is not doing well and investors should get out of it. I want to know if this would be a prudent decision.

No, don’t do that. The three funds that you're investing in are excellent funds. While ICICI Prudential Focused Bluechip is a relatively new fund, the other funds have an impressive track record of over 15 years. We would suggest you to stay on course and continue investing in these funds. Don’t disturb your portfolio based on based on relative short-term underperformance of 3-6 months.
