Infra doesn’t Make Sense

All infrastructure funds have been struggling & owning one doesn’t make sense…

I had invested Rs 10,000 in Tata Indo Global Infrastructure fund on 12 November 2007. The NAV has not been good since subscription. Should I redeem? If yes, where should I invest the redeemed money?

Tata Indo Global Infrastructure fund caught the peak of the markets when it was launched in October 2007. Since then, the fund has lost nearly 30 per cent, and its NAV is around Rs 7 right now. However, this fund is not alone; all infrastructure funds are in the same boat and have been struggling. We have advised time and again that owning an infrastructure fund doesn’t make sense. Hence, you should move your investments to a general, diversified equity fund. If you're inclined towards Tata funds, then the Tata Equity PE Ratio fund would make a good option.
