Evaluating Fund Performance

Don’t get disappointed by the 1-year performance of your funds. Invest in good funds & be patient…

I have been investing in mutual funds for the past 2 years. I invest Rs 3,000 every month in HDFC Equity and HDFC Top 200. These two funds are not performing as per my expectations. Shall I continue with these two funds?

The funds you are investing in are good funds. You shouldn’t be disappointed by their past 1-year performance. Even the Sensex was down by around 25 per cent in the past 1 year. We keep saying that equity is a long-term investment. We would suggest that you should be patient since you have chosen good funds. You can also try to diversify across fund companies. You can hold onto HDFC Equity and replace HDFC Top 200 with a well-performing fund from another AMC.
