Exit Loads

The exit load is paid on the terminal value of your investments, not on the invested amount

I had invested around Rs 5.5 lakh in ICICI Prudential Regular Savings Growth. Should I stay invested in this fund or opt out? If I redeem my investments from this fund, I will face an exit load of 2 per cent. I want to know if this 2 per cent is applicable on the amount invested or the amount redeemed.

This fund has performed steadily. This was not supposed to be an aggressive fund, it wasn’t supposed to go down on value, and it has not. It has been an above-average fixed income fund and it has done reasonably well. So if it is serving your needs well, you should stay invested in it.

Coming to the exit load, you pay a load on the terminal value, not on the invested amount. So, if you had invested Rs 1 lakh, which has now risen to Rs 1.25 lakh, then the exit load will be applicable on Rs 1.25 lakh.
