Choosing a Debt Fund

There are 4-5 types of debt mutual funds that you can invest in, depending on your timeframe

I would like to know which are the good 100 per cent debt mutual funds.

There are 4-5 types of debt funds that invest entirely in fixed income securities. The type of fund that you would want to invest in would depend on your investment timeframe. If you want to invest for a few days, then liquid funds and ultra short-term funds would be appropriate. For a period of 2-3 years, you can consider investing in an income fund, which we expect to give 10-15 per cent more returns than a bank fixed deposit at better tax benefits. If you are investing for a fixed period of time, and you won't be requiring the money, then invest in a fixed maturity plan (FMP).
