Getting Started

Investing through SIPs in balanced funds is the best way to get started for new investors…

I am 24 years old and want to start investing in mutual funds. I want to start with a balanced fund like HDFC Prudence or HDFC Balanced fund. Could you please tell me which of the two mentioned funds would be a better option to start with?- Ananda Barooah

Investing through SIPs in balanced fund is the best way to get started with mutual fund investing. Both the funds that you have short listed are highly rated, with consistent performance track record to invest in. There’s no arguing with the numbers in either case. Its only that HDFC Prudence takes a more aggressive route but rewards its investors for the risk. While HDFC Balanced takes a conservative approach.
Make sure to assess the performance of your investments at least once a year and review its progress to suit your investment goals.
