Time to Exit Non Performers

Selecting a good fund is half the battle won; for the other half you need to exit bad ones

I have an SIP investment in Magnum Contra (growth) since November 2007; the fund has not a 3-star rating. Should I continue investing in this for another two years or exit?

This is an impressive multi-cap fund that boasts of a good long-term track record. However, it is no more true to its calling in taking a contrarian positions. Investment in such a fund goes through phases when the fund would under perform the category average simply because of its stock picks that is reflected in the fall in its ratings. There are better performing funds in the category and you should consider switching to them.
