Taurus Mutual Fund: Bull at Work

Mutual funds are low cost, transparent, high efficiency products managed by top quality professionals and will find takers.

It's a tough job to change an existing business strategy. The fund house embarked on this change two years ago and the results are favouring the move. “Our strong performance in recent years has earned us the attention of investors and is getting converted into inflows,” says Waqar Naqvi, CEO Tarus Mutual Fund. Taurus is now working towards being consistent.

Disappointing AUM growth: The AUM growth on the equity side is disappointing. It is, however, true that investors who invested at the peak of the market in 2007 and 2008 have seen the value of their investments coming back and are redeeming. It is also true that investors get jittery when the market is at these levels. The way to address this is to understand that mutual funds are low cost, transparent, high efficiency products managed by top quality professionals and will eventually find takers.

State of the market: We see the stock market creating history in the times to come. India continues to be an attractive investment destination though stock picking will remain an important task.

The road ahead: We have chosen to be equally active in the debt and equity space, focusing on both retail and institutional investors. We will work towards keeping this consistency in place across all aspects of the business.
