M Damodaran, an IAS officer, has been appointed as Chairman of Unit Trust of India for a period of one-year starting from July 15, 2001. He takes over from the acting UTI chief K.G Vassal.
Prior to this, Damodaran was working on restructuring of 3 identified weak public sector banks with the Reserve Bank of India. He also served Ministry of Finance for five years.
