DWS Plans Global Agri Fund

Rising food prices can be an investment opportunity too

DWS Mutual Fund has filed an offer document with SEBI to launch Global Agri-Business Fund. The DWS Global Agri-Business Off-Shore Fund will be the first Indian fund to focus on agriculture and allied sectors.

This Indian fund will invests in DWS Global Agri-business Fund, a fund based in Luxembourg. This fund since its inception in September 2006, has generated an annualized return of 6.30 per cent (Returns denominated in US dollar).

The fund has kept its option to invest in other international funds or agriculture and related stocks. Besides, the fund can have upto 35% in debt and money market instruments. The performance of the fund will be benchmarked to MSCI World Index.

Ever since the Indian market went in a tailspin in January, fund companies have lined up a wide variety of exotic and unique investment theme funds to invest abroad.
