About SBI BSE PSU Bank Index Fund - Regular Plan
SBI BSE PSU Bank Index Fund - Regular Plan is a equity mutual fund scheme of SBI Mutual Fund. Launched on March 25, 2025, it is currently managed by Viral Chhadva. The fund has an expense ratio of 0.79% with an overall AUM (Assets Under Management) of ₹259 Cr.
SBI BSE PSU Bank Index Fund - Regular Plan is mandated to invest at least 80 per cent of its assets in the shares of banks and financial services companies. Being passively managed, it replicates the portfolio of its chosen benchmark index. The fund allows minimum lumpsum investment of ₹1,000 and minimum SIP of ₹500.
Investment Strategy
The scheme seeks to provide returns that, closely correspond to the total returns of the securities as represented by the underlying index, subject to tracking error.
Suitability
Nobody should invest in Banking funds in our opinion, because:
- They have a narrow focus on only financial services companies
- Instead, diversified equity funds which invest across sectors are better

- Be prepared to withstand interim sharp declines in investment value
- Being passively managed, the fund replicates the portfolio of its chosen benchmark index
Capital Gains Taxation
- If the mutual fund units are sold after 1 year from the date of investment, gains upto Rs 1.25 lakh in a financial year are exempt from tax. Gains over Rs 1.25 lakh are taxed at the rate of 12.5%.
- If the mutual fund units are sold within 1 year from the date of investment, entire amount of gain is taxed at the rate of 20%.
- No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units.
