About Bank of India Arbitrage Fund - Regular Plan
Bank of India Arbitrage Fund - Regular Plan is a hybrid mutual fund scheme of Bank of India Mutual Fund. Launched on June 18, 2018, it is currently managed by Nilesh Jethani. The fund has an expense ratio of 4.77% with an overall AUM (Assets Under Management) of ₹45 Cr.
Bank of India Arbitrage Fund - Regular Plan invests in equity shares and derivatives and earns through the price differential between a stock and its futures. The fund allows minimum lumpsum investment of ₹1,000 and minimum SIP of ₹1,000.
Investment Strategy
The scheme seeks to generate income through arbitrage opportunities between cash and derivative segments of the equity market and arbitrage opportunities within the derivative segment and by deployment of surplus cash in debt securities and money market instruments.
Suitability
Arbitrage funds are suitable for:
- Parking emergency corpus or idle money for investors in the highest tax bracket
- Earning slightly higher returns than savings bank account, with low-to-moderate volatility
- Investment horizon of 3 months to 1 year

Capital Gains Taxation
- If the mutual fund units are sold after 1 year from the date of investment, gains upto Rs 1.25 lakh in a financial year are exempt from tax. Gains over Rs 1.25 lakh are taxed at the rate of 12.5%.
- If the mutual fund units are sold within 1 year from the date of investment, entire amount of gain is taxed at the rate of 20%.
- No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units.
